Sussex County was awarded a grant to conduct a countywide needs assessment consisting of surveys of older residents, focus groups, and stakeholder meetings. The findings, to be added to the county’s master plan and shared with the local town officials, advisory boards and county commissioners, led this northwest New Jersey county of about 144,000 residents to join the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities in December 2025.
