Frequently Asked Questions
What are the goals of this event?
The purpose of the event is to bring together folks doing work related to age-friendly communities throughout the state into one virtual space, with opportunities to learn and connect during the Virtual Fair and beyond. This includes community initiatives, county efforts, statewide coalitions, and allied efforts.
Who should attend?
You! We anticipate that a wide variety of individuals will find this event to be meaningful. This includes older residents, service providers, government officials, planners, developers, students, educators, community groups, funders, and more!
What is the format of this event?
This event will be held on Zoom and will feature multiple sessions of concurrent breakout "table presentations" with leaders from across New Jersey, interspersed with brief remarks in the main room.
What is a "table presentation"?
We like to think of these as a mix of traditional breakout sessions and tables at a conference. Each table presentation will be 15-20 minutes long and include a brief overview of the topic, with ample time for conversation and audience participation. Participants can move from one room to another during each table session.
How do I decide which sessions to attend?
We hope that you will join us for the entire event (9:30am-12:00pm). You can join any breakout room you wish, and we will have Zoom techs on hand to help you get into the room you want. There is no need to sign up in advance: we will provide a program guide with a schedule of all table presentations that you can browse in advance of the event. Additionally, before each table session begins, each table from that session will share an "elevator pitch" explaining what their topic will be.
Who is hosting this event?
The 2022 New Jersey Age-Friendly Virtual Fair is co-hosted by the Rutgers University School of Social Work, New Jersey Advocates for Aging Well, The Henry and Marilyn Taub Foundation, and The Grotta Fund.
